![]() I guess it'd be interesting to see what they'll come out with next. I can't see that changing, so my money is on more of the same. I think RPG Maker's success is based around the simplicity of the game making process and the style of games. I mean, wouldn't they be forced to learn so much game development that they'd have to learn that there's better alternatives to making 3D games? I don't think the RM community would do well with a 3D game maker. I don't mind something that good costing money just because a lot of the work is done for you, but XP, VX, and VX Ace are very overpriced for how limited they are and how lazy Enterbrain was when making them. Graphics styles for various settings (medieval/renaissance, modern, sci-fi, etc.) XP's icon system, but with the number of icons that VX Ace has or more. 2 sprite styles: chibi(VX) and non-chibi(XP) An area-based event system similar to how triggers work in Unity A customizable message box system similar to ccoa's UMS Lots of pre-made sprites and faces for characters and enemies Most of the features VX Ace has, mainly the things involving items, skills, world maps, and vehicals The mapping of XP with infinite (or at least a big number of) layers ways of customizing the battle system somehow, allowing for normal turn based side-view, ATB, AP based, tactical, and ABS battle systems I have high hopes, but very very low expectations. Or maybe I'm just really pessimistic when it comes to Enterbrain. Every new engine will have features that make it partially better than the last, but at the same time, not nearly as good as it could be and have features that make it terrible to people who are used to whatever came before it. ![]() That's just now the universe works.Īnd RPG Maker will continue to disappoint people and cost way too much. It is physically impossible for Valve to make a 3rd game in any series. It cannot and will not ever exist in any universe. RPG Maker 2 has a rank of 65 out of a 100 on Metacritic.I feel like rumors of a new RPG Maker are just some constant fact of the universe. The game was received well by fans for its "dedication needed to master". RPG Maker 2 contains the developers' pre-created sample game called FuMa to showcase an example of a fully completed game built with the software. Users also have the ability to create their own music tracks if needed. The musical score of RPG Maker 2 contains a small collection of samples. The game also includes a real-time system that allowed changes in time and weather, letting the creator design time-specific events. Like other game-making programs, RPG Maker 2 gives the ability to create different events, drive cutscenes, construct boss battles, and add various effects (activities' execution is tied to pre-generated scripts, as in most programming languages). ![]() The PlayStation 2 USB port also allows the use of a USB keyboard, speeding up the process of writing text. Instead, RPG Maker 2 uses Picture Paradise, software that allows the user to incorporate digital photos into the game. The game uses super-deformed character models outside of battle, with somewhat more realistic but still stylized models in battle.īecause RPG Maker 2 used 3D graphics instead of 2D, programs like the Anime Maker for RPG Maker were not included in RPG Maker 2. It was also the first one that allowed players to move in any direction by manipulating the analog stick, but the graphical quality of the game suffered during movement, providing a "blur" effect. RPG Maker 2 was the first console RPG Maker to feature full 3D graphics. The game lets players write their own stories and uses 3D models. RPG Maker 2 ( RPGツクール5, RPG Tsukūru 5) is the third PlayStation version of the RPG Maker series, following the original RPG Maker (and the Japan-only RPG Tsukūru 4), the first version of the series to be released for the PlayStation 2 and the overall fifth installment for home consoles.
